About FileOne
FileOne is a small, free set of tools for everyday image and PDF jobs. It is built so the file you are working on stays on your device.
What FileOne is
FileOne focuses on common, well-defined tasks: converting and compressing images, resizing images, creating a PDF from images, merging PDFs, and extracting pages from a PDF.
Every tool is free to use. There is no account, no watermark, no upload queue, and no paid tier required to download a result.
How local processing works
Image work uses the browser's own decoding and Canvas APIs. PDF work uses pdf-lib, a JavaScript library delivered with the site and loaded in your browser when you run a PDF action.
The selected file is read from your device into the page's memory. Processing happens there. FileOne does not include a server-side conversion endpoint, cloud file storage, or a database of uploaded files.
The tools available today
Six tools are available, and every one of them has a working local implementation:
- Image Converter — JPG, PNG, and WebP
- Image Compressor — target size in KB
- Image Resizer — pixel dimensions
- Images to PDF — one page per image
- Merge PDF — combine 2 to 20 PDFs
- Split PDF — extract pages into a new PDF
What FileOne does not do
FileOne does not convert HEIC, GIF, Office documents, or video. It does not provide AI features, cloud storage, or a public conversion API. It does not require or create user accounts.
Some PDF features are intentionally avoided. Encrypted PDFs are rejected, and digital signatures should not be assumed to survive merging or page extraction.
How FileOne is funded
The site is free. It may show clearly labelled advertising in the future to cover hosting costs. Ads are disabled in the current build, and they will never be disguised as download or action buttons.
FileOne does not sell file data, because file data never reaches FileOne.
